Kid Books Recommendations

Time for alittle participation! I have a gift card to Barnes & Noble to get some kid's books for my Love for Liberia Book Drive. I spent over an hour in there today on the floor with some books, and came out with one. I know some of you have already done all of the leg-work....so I'm asking for your help. I'm looking for good books that I can buy for the kids in Liberia that cover topics like: West Africa, Liberia, life in Africa, being special, character building, God's love, being African (ie, like the book Nappy Hair), or just really good, classic kid books (Where the Wild Things Are, Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom) etc.

Here's what I picked up today. I've been meaning to order it off of Amazon, but never did. It was the only book they had in stock that's in my Amazon cart.

Ok, time to cast your votes!!

I loveloveLOVE Eric Carle's books. Where the Wild Things Are is also awesome. Laura Numeroff's books are pretty good as well. And Max Lucado has a few children's books out that are great; I especially love Hermie: The Common Caterpillar.
Other suggestions - God Gave Us You by Lisa Tawn Bergren. The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. The Berenstain Bears: God Loves You! And obviously, any "beginner Bibles" ... with pictures, of course! Finally, I think C.S. Lewis' Narnia books are available in pop-ups for kids; from what I've heard, they're pretty cool!
Hope this helps. :)

Yep. The plan is to use the gift card before I leave!

Ten in a Bed & Giraffes Can't Dance. I echo the Hermie books. Kohl's Dept. stores had some really nice African animal story books a year ago. I'll reseach to see if they're still available. Peter enjoy getting to know African animals even though he's never seen them.
